Dear Guest,
I come to share with you
Flights of fancy
That came from far-
That came from near,
hopefully to spread some cheer.
Tales and Paintings
A poem or two
With warmth of spirit
And a smile too.

Out From the Mists of Time
07.11.10 | מאת:MervynOut from the mists of time Our History comes ‘ A legacy of strength It flows in our veins Beneath each of us a pedestal straight and strong From the trials of Abraham who planted a tree To Moses who made us free Therefrom comes our family ‘˜till finally A soldier returns to our Temple’™s stones

Lonely Pine
07.11.10 | מאת:MervynI bless the air around me ‘“ So warm the sun upon me O’™ for a friend ‘ not just the rocks that surround me The post was a friend once so alive Her tears now dried Left me lonely

Enjoined For Life
07.11.10 | מאת:MervynRare, so rare that trees will share attached by root and branch Enjoined for life No sign of strife But a desire to share fruit and blossom To show to all how good life can be growing together you and me.

Farewell of a Fallen Leaf
07.11.10 | מאת:MervynNow’™s not a time to weep Just because it’™s time to sleep Farewells are hard when one’™s loved a love that true to countless times ‘“ them and you and if, for all that, I’™m bound to choose one of all those things I must now loose I’™ll choose a simple leaf that’™s lived And gave of all it had to give ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ * ‘ Tale of a Fallen Leaf Brittle yet as of gold I’™ve lived a life both bright and bold ‘“ see how the nights are turning cold – just a fallen leaf? A bud upon a twig – sweet green One of a thousand ‘“ was’™t a dream? moved by an embracing sun’™s warm beam how bright …

The Islet
07.11.10 | מאת:MervynHow rumbles the earth torn by forces – lava’™s flame spewing its own into the sea unable to contain such violence – now unchained So builds a mountain from the deep to rise, to rise it now knows why ‘“ with a hiss and a sigh to breath the air to see the sky Ahh! A playground for sea-creatures, new A wonder just for me and you.

The Grotto
07.11.10 | מאת:MervynThe grotto resonates to the sounds as though he IS the cello – and the bow pervading all as if Heaven surrounds in joys unbound ‘ there trembles and dances to the sounds

In Virgin Rock
07.11.10 | מאת:MervynIn Virgin rock slowly forms New shapes through sand and wind in violent storms As sentinels they solemnly stand Awaiting an eye – an eager heart to entrap in colour and then in frame a flight of fancy ‘“ without a name

Rocks at rest
07.11.10 | מאת:MervynOr do they sleep? They have no promises to keep A thousand years as though day may pass and yet their song’˜s still here to stay

Snowscape
07.11.10 | מאת:MervynPower in white A recent fall exposes virgin rock, bright in a hazy sun Who’™ld dare scale these cliffs so pale but so inviting too If but I had eagles wings Fly, I’™d fly ‘ high, so high with beating heart and brightened eye

Reflections from the Pyrenees
07.11.10 | מאת:MervynDwarfed by towering cliffs uprising of colours grey and blue and gold Granite giants, so still so strong I can but wonder at such creation. A line of green – a copse of pine find a root-hold, a place to grow All reach skyward, upward, highward and set my soul a-gasping – A mighty rock-face soaring so – a racing, stony river below. The strata in these walls of power tell of a grand creation – so long ago And Man’™s works dwindle to insignificance in the mighty mountain’™s splendour And I, small, stare humbled then lifted to heights I never knew.
