It’s coming to me clean and bright!” “I, too.” “And I,” they shout in glee “See the world! ‘ Just look at me!” In the fir wood their leaves of jade A carpet for the fairies made A million blooms, if one, I thought And imagination here was caught As fancy flowered a delicate hue Of palest pink and white and blue I heard them call I’m sure as sure They shouted so that all could hear! “Come play and dance in the wind and glade In sparkling sun and chequered shade.” I stood aghast at the beauteous sight of cyclamen in the dappled light And knew this moment would for me Remain transfixed …

MOTHER NEST AND TENDER YEARS A new green leaf will bend its twig to greet the summer sun So a branch began an unchanging form of beauty and of wonder too A fledgling’™s beak wide Life just begun A nest becomes an ever memory How soft the summer sun

When the going’™s tough Steps hot to the touch Yet the goal is seen Tantalizing – close Soul-peace ‘“ the promise Who shall not want so great a prize – winning ‘ just winning that extra mile

I’™m a spirit of the forest ‘ wild and free Who’™ll dare catch a spirit Who’™ll dare catch me I’™m dancing light I’™m fleeting flight Like the whippoorwill Of the star-filled night

Her sister’™s child Softly cradled She, aloof to those Who cared to call Longingly yearning Her own heart burning Years whisk by Lifetimes fly Worldly wise Yet with dreamtimes sighs Of soft, sweet thoughts And life’™s so short Oh, where’™s my friend All sadly end

Autumn comes a-stalking gently treading softly creeping Leaves, their duty done whisper secret memories as they fall of young spring growth of summer nights – bewildering sights beneath the stars Now’  the rain lifts spirits free of their ever home their mother tree

The beauty of the simple surround – the leaf, the pebble, the chirp, the sound of music or a child’s laugh may they lighten your spirit when times are rough when life can make the going tough A deep breath or two – eyes to the sky to the dove or the blue bird flying high and quite suddenly ‘“ and this is true things will not seem quite so blue So herewith a smile to lighten your day and know I thought of you today

Grand in its gnarled and rugged years The King of the Hill so splendid stands Proud -gives to those who realize the power and beauty of such a prize
